1. I did the thing a women should never do last week. I bought a bra without trying it on. Of course, I got home, tried it on and will be returning it this week.
2. I finally started on our family Christmas card today. I'm hoping to get them out by New Year.
3. Abby and Syd both have little, tiny trees in their rooms this year. It has been a great place to put those ornaments they so creatively make everyday. But they have also started leaving gifts under them for each other. Last night Abby gave Syd a balloon animal she made and Syd very proudly left Abby, "1 green dollar, 4 brown pennies, and 1 silver small penny."
4. I have a full box of cut in half bananas turning brown and stinking like crazy in my pantry. We bought them for the ward party, but no one ate them. I decided instead of wasting them and throwing them away, I'd bring them home, let them go bad and make LOTS of banana bread. I'm not sure if it is worth it......the smell in the pantry just about knocks you over every time you open the door.
5. I made
this for our 'friend' Christmas party last night. It was so easy to make and tasted delicious. The only problem was everyone thought it was so cute that no one dared eat it because they didn't want to mess it up.
6. Speaking of our party last night. I only took 1 picture of the whole night, but I am impressed that I got 8 of the 11 kids and they are all looking at the camera. I still can't believe that a friendship that started over 10 years ago between 2 friends in Graphic Services at Rick's College has grown into a massive group of 21. We have gone through a lot together. I'm so grateful for these friends and love spending time with them. Our kids get along so well and as adults we just laugh and laugh and laugh.
7. The girls tried to trick Lucas last night. They made him a cozy little house complete with bed and toys and tossed in a couple of treats to entice him . They were hoping he would stay the night and they would find him asleep in his new bed in the morning. But in the morning, they were the ones getting tricked. Lucas had eaten all the treats, but he didn't sleep in the bed.
8. I am almost done Christmas shopping. I have about 3 more things to get and then the great wrapping will begin.
Etsy has been my favorite place to get gifts this year. I love supporting the artists and there is something special about giving homemade items. I found out yesterday that my sister is also in love with it and got my present from there. I'm so excited to see what it is.
9. Speaking of wrapping, I asked Syd this morning if she wanted to help me wrap all the presents. She was excited at first and then asked if she would be wrapping her own presents. Playing along, I said "Sure." She thought about it for a while and then said, "Then I don't want to help you. I want to be surprised. I don't want to know all my presents, Christmas is about being surprised."
10. I love having an 8 year old. At school this year Abby decided to be an 'early bird,' which means her schools at 8:00 verses the 'later gators' at 9:15. I am NOT a morning person and was afraid that getting her ready and out the door by 7:45 was going to kill me. It was easy at first. But I slowly started getting her up later and later. So I finally decided to get her an alarm clock so she can get herself up. It was the best $30 I've ever spent. Her goal every morning is to be up and dressed BEFORE it goes off. Usually she is waking me up at 7:10 completely dressed, hair done, breakfast eaten, asking if she can watch tv until her carpool comes.
Man - I sure hope that your sister and I aren't getting you the same thing. I guess the odds are slim, seeing as how there are a MILLION things on Etsy. I'm hoping you didn't let her login to your account! :)
Have a great time at the Christmas party tonight, and let me know when you and Derek want me to take the kids so you can have a night alone.

Syd - I am so with you girl - Christmas is about surprises! I hate finding out what I'm getting ahead of time. I even hate finding out what other people get for my kids - I like to be surprised about their presents too!
And Jess - I sure do love your blog - it makes me happy to read :)

Your a busy girl. I can't believe Christmas is next week. We will have to take the kids to play in the snow over the break.
