One year ago

I was talking to a friend last week and she mentioned how much I had changed over the past year. I was very surprised by this comment. Sure, my hair went from blonde to brown, but really I didn’t feel any different. She then said she could tell that I had different priorities.

I spent the rest of the day thinking about that conversation and came to the conclusion that I really had changed.  I wasn’t a ‘bad’ person a year ago, but I was a 'better' person now. I then realized that it was exactly one year ago to the day that I was fired from Making Memories. 

One year ago, my life totally and completely changed. I went from focusing on work and deadlines and travel, to focusing on what was best for Derek, my family and me. They say getting fired is the best thing that can happen to a person and I totally agree. 

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. My family. My friends. You loved me, supported me and weren’t afraid to tell me when I was being an idiot. I am a changed person today because of each one of you.

I can’t wait to see what happens next year. But I’d really rather not get fired again.
