utah kopp family

When Derek and I got married over 10 years ago we swore we would never live in Utah. We decided we would go off on our own, make our own adventures and not live by my family or his family. But between school and jobs we never made it very far. I've never complained because I love having my family so close and the opportunity to see them whenever I want. Derek on the other hand has always been a trooper and not complained too much about only seeing his family once or twice a year......but at last count we have more of his family in Utah then back in Chicago.....and Derek is loving ever minute of it. 

We are always getting together and always have a great time. We eat food, play games, quote movies, and laugh and laugh and laugh. I'm so grateful that we have our little Utah Kopp family and that Derek gets to see them all the time.

4TH OF JULY

We all got together for a 4th of July barbeque at Melissa and Rob's house. It was a perfect day. We ate amazing food, blew bubbles, played water ballon games, roasted marshmallows and lit fireworks. 

A couple of highlights:

• Melissa got soaked in the water balloon toss and no matter how hard we tried, Johnny never got a drop of water on him.

• Derek got a new blow torch and thought he was cool lighting all the fireworks with it.

• Jude was so proud and excited about his frog firework. When you lit it, its eyes and mouth glowed red. It was totally worth the $15.

• Syd decided to 'trick' everyone and wore glasses all day.

• Derek and Rob yelling 'UP' to Johnny so he wouldn't shoot anymore fireworks at the neighbors house.

I had forgotten all about those pictures! That was a GREAT 4th! Jude will be happy to see that his froggy was immortalized through photography. He keeps asking about it...we keep avoiding the question!
