The votes are in.....

...and Abby is one of the newest members of the Fox Hollow Student Council.

She is so excited and eager to get started. She loves to organize events and can't wait to sell pens, go to meetings and do the morning announcements. In order to run she had to give a speech and make a poster. 

She wrote her speech all by herself. 

I think I can be on Student Council because I'm very respectful, I can get stuff done and I like to be on top of stuff. I like to be involved in planning. I like sorting messy places. I'm a very responsible girl. I want to be a friend to everybody. I would like to make it so that there is NO bullying. I enjoy going to school and I want it to be a place where other people want to come. Fox Hollow is the BEST but I want to try and make it even better!

Notice anything different?

If you look carefully you'll notice a new hole in Sydney's smile. A missing tooth. Sydney is ecstatic. She has been waiting 'forever' for a tooth to fall out and last night it finally happened. We didn't even know it was loose, but we now know if you bite really hard onto your pant leg and then kick your legs around, teeth fall out as the material is ripped from your mouth. There is a new tooth already starting to take it's place, but poor Syd has a tiny mouth just like me and it is already coming in sideways. Don't worry, the dentist has been warning us for years and we've already started her braces fund.

The first tooth Abby lost was very traumatic. Her 2 bottom teeth were knocked out her mouth by a jumprope on the playground at school. Because it was the first tooth and lost in such a dramatic way, the Tooth Fairy was very generous and left $3 for each tooth. She has since become a lot smarter and moved back to $.50 to $1. I thought for sure no one would remember how generous the Tooth Fairy was, but I was wrong. Abby was such a nice sister and keep telling Sydney how cool it is to loose your first tooth because you get TONS of money. Sydney did wake up to $3 this morning, but has been reminded several times that from now on the Tooth Fairy is on a budget. 

Sydney kept asking what the Tooth Fairy does with all the teeth. I told her I didn't know, but after she thought about it for a while she figured it out. They are just rotated back to little kids. She is convinced that very soon Evan will be getting a tooth and it will be her tooth in his mouth.

We had a party at our house today. A tooth party. Sydney decided to host a party for herself and spent the morning making up games, gathering prizes and handing out invitations. Abby even got involved and invited a couple of her friends. Sydney was so excited everyone showed up and even more excited that some of the kids brought her presents. 

Here are the invitations. They say, "I lost a tooth hooray."

I LOVE polaroids and always wish I had an actual polaroid camera. Thanks to Rollip, now it's just like I do.  Check it out. All you have to do is upload a photo, choose a design, and add text.  It 'magically' does all the cropping and coloring.

I've been making them all night. 

two & a half months

 

• Hasn't started getting the baby rolls yet, but his cheeks sure are getting bigger. 

• Starting to figure out how his body works. Over the past few weeks he has mastered his tongue. It goes in and out all the time. Derek and him love to sit and stick their tongues out at each other. First Derek, then Evan. 

• Right now he is working hard on making his arms and hands do what he wants them to do. He has realized he can make them move, but gets so frustrated when they don't grab the thing he wants. We have started hanging toys from his car seat and he just swings and swings his arms at them until he final can grab on......and then he never lets go.

• Fabulous sleeper. Usually one night a week we are lucky enough to have him sleep through the night (always Derek's night, never mine). The rest of the week he gets up once, has a drink, and is right back to sleep. 

• Smiles all the time. He has decided he likes the rest of us and smiles for everyone, not just Derek. The worst is when I'm holding him and while looking at something else realize he is smiling at me and I've missed it.....I hate missing smiles. 

• He has started closing his eyes when Abby and Sydney get close because they are always kissing him and dangling their hair in his eyes. Poor guy gets at least 30 kisses a day from each sister. Every time they enter and leave a room with him in it they HAVE to kiss him. Do you think they like him?

• Evan is an absolute joy to be around. He is calm and patient and really only cries when it is absolutely necessary. 

• He is very curious and is always checking out everything going on around him. I keep telling the girls he is watching and learning from them, so they better set a good example....sometimes it works, other times they just roll their eyes and keep on yelling.
